Don’t try this…

People do all sorts of strange things in a gym; most of the time they are just harmless so will not give them top results, but sometimes they are dangerous.  I have been exercising regularly in a gym for over 20 years and I have seen a large array of things going on… Keep your eyes peeled and you will see things like super-quick movements with a tiny range of motion and perhaps, even people balancing on a Swiss ball whilst trying to squat with weights.  All of these strange sights led me to my number one piece of gym advice that I used to give to all of my clients when I was a personal trainer: NEVER copy people at the gym.

In Sid Smart, children can learn how to make healthy lifestyle choices.  In the first book, Sid Smart – Eating, Sid teaches children about the importance of healthy, nutritious and balanced food choices.

A werewolf is for life, not just for Halloween

The first children’s book in my new series – Sid Smart – is available now on Amazon.  It is available as a paperback or eBook.

Using my knowledge gained through obtaining high-level qualifications in nutrition and fitness, I have created my first series of books – Sid Smart.  With charming illustrations and relatable storylines, Sid Smart will take children on a journey which will teach them how to make healthy lifestyle choices.

Sid Smart – Eating is a picture book, suitable for all children from 3 years old and up.

A gym tip from the author and illustrator of Sid Smart – the children’s book about health and nutrition.

I’m sure you’ve all seen this in a gym…  someone lifting too much weight and completely losing technique.  It’s not all about adding more and more weight every week, no matter the impact on your form.  I often have to give myself a check and ease back on the weights so I don’t compromise on technique.  Lifting heavy weights with poor technique can cause injuries and doesn’t reflect your true strength.  You are better off lowering the weights, slowing it down and keeping strict technique.  You will feel the difference.

Another piece of art created on my digital art tablet.  I like the look of concept art and graphic novels, particularly when they are done digitally.  For all you digital artists out there, you know it’s all about adding layers, being patient and being meticulous.  Practice makes perfect! Sid says, “Start the day with protein!” Sid Smart – the children’s book about health and nutrition.

Sid always starts the day with a good, high protein breakfast.  He feels more awake, more energised and more ready for the day when he starts the day with protein.  Other benefits include: a reduced appetite for snacking, a metabolism boost and increased mental awareness.  Some great breakfast options are: eggs, yogurt, beans, lean meat, seeds and if all else fails, a protein shake.

#1 piece of fitness advice from the author and illustrator of Sid Smart – the children’s book about health and nutrition.

So, I was at the gym yesterday and as I was resting between sets, I saw some peculiar techniques…  People do all sorts of strange things in a gym; most of the time they are harmless and will just not give them any results, but sometimes they are dangerous.  I have been exercising regularly in a gym for over 20 years and I have seen a large array of things going on… Keep your eyes peeled and you will see things like super-quick movements with a tiny range of motion and perhaps, even people balancing on a Swiss ball whilst trying to squat with weights.  All of these strange sights led me to my number one piece of gym advice that I used to give to all of my clients when I was a personal trainer: NEVER copy anyone at the gym.
